Our Ethics
We don’t - and won’t - make outrageous or exaggerated claims for our products.
We do our very best to use certified organic ingredients.
All our ingredients are unadulterated, from GM-free plants or from other naturally-occuring substances such as honey and beeswax.
We do not use any lauryls, mineral oils, petrochemical-based ingredients, or lanolin; no parabens, alcohol, or bleach; no artificial preservatives, sham fragrances or synthetic colours.
Our products are compliant with European Community regulations. We are happy to give our customers details of our certification. Contact Great Elm Physick Garden
We test our products on our ourselves, our friends and our children. No animal has been used to test any of our ingredients or products; we insist on similar guarantees from the suppliers of our ingredients.
Our products are monitored and tested through the services of an independent laboratory.
We try our best to work to the highest environmental and ethical standards.
Packaging
Our containers are glass. It is made of silica, sand and fire. Nothing from it can leach into the contents. Or out. It is easy to recycle.
Our lids are aluminium. They too are the 'greenest' solution we could find.
There are small amounts of plastic in the pumps and pump straws. We have only used pumps where absolutely necessary.
Our card boxes, tissue and postal wrapping all contain as much recycled material as possible. Some of our bags are constructed from handmade plant paper.
That leaves our ribbon and printing ink. We can’t vouch for it on environmental terms. If you don’t want it on your parcel for these reasons, please say so.
We ask all our suppliers about their environmental policies: if they’re trying their best, we do business.
